A
MESSAGE FROM MELISSA AND BRUCE - 26th January 2006

Dear friends,
My,
my it has been a long time since we have written to update you about all
the goings on here at Casa Boxleitner!
Well,
I am happy to report that all is well. All is fantastic, in fact.
The boys are all growing in so many ways and Bruce and I are better
than ever.
Sam is teaching music and has just done his first demo which Bruce
and I think is pretty brilliant. In fact, I am going to find
a way to make it downloadable from this site...with our webmistress'
help and permission, of course.
Lee started film school this month and is thriving. We have known
how talented he is for quite some time now and we are thrilled that
he is in an environment where his immense talents are being nurtured.
Dakota got his first car this Christmas (my old car, I got a new one...hooray!).
He also did his first play this year and it looks like we have another
actor on our hands.
Michael is growing like a weed. He is doing so well in school and
has a real aptitude for math and science. Though he also adores music
and wants to take up the saxophone!
The
holidays were wonderful. We stayed home as it was our first Christmas
in our beautiful new home. Bruce, ever the romantic, surprised me
by resetting my engagement ring and giving me a new wedding band.
I'll tell you, this marriage just gets better and better. Here we
are, together for thirteen years and each day is a new adventure.
Bruce's
favorite gift this year? A new pair of Ugg slippers from Michael!
As
for work, there are a lot of exciting developments. Bruce's Hallmark
movie "Falling in Love With the Girl Next-door" airs on February 4th
and he just finished a "Mystery Woman" movie for Hallmark called "Wild
West Murder". Yes, folks, he's back on a horse playing a washed up
cowboy star. He had a blast shooting and we are really excited to
see it. Now we are reading pilots for new series and, fingers crossed,
one of us will get one.
In
the meantime, I have partnered up with a friend of mine and started
a gift basket business. You can find us at www.ggandcompany.com
. A word of caution though, our site only has photos of our holiday
baskets. But we expect to have photos of our entire catalogue up by
mid February.
As you can see by the homepage on this site, I have gotten involved
with the Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition. This is
an extraordinary organization. Our goal is to guarantee that children
who are terminally ill get the chance to die with dignity and peace
in a loving environment. You can even purchase bracelets created
in memory of two children who were very special to us and who have
passed away. The proceeds will go directly to CHPCC. I actually gave
one of the bracelets to my friend Johnny Depp and he wears it all
the time. You can read more about Johnny and the bracelets at www.childrenshospice.org
.
As
2006 begins, Bruce and I want to thank all of you for your loyalty
and support over the years. One of the great honors of our lives has
been bringing entertainment to you and your families.
We
want to extend special thanks to Jayne, our webmistress,
for her hard work and her patience with us. We also want to send a
special thank you to our friend Kathy Bartels who continues to do
a yeoman's job of handling our fan clubs and fan mail. She's such
a dynamo!!
Finally,
I would like you all to do me a personal favor. I just got word that
a friend of mine from childhood, Chris Penn, has passed away. Please
say a prayer for Chris' mother Eileen and his brothers Sean and Michael.
I am sure they are having a very hard time right now. Chris was a
great guy. Loving, kind, funny and talented. He will be missed by
all of us.
We hope this new year brings you all health, happiness and peace.
Cheers,
Melissa......and Bruce too!
Dear
Friends,
Bruce and I want all of you to know that we are fine and all of our
friends and loved ones in New York and Washington, DC are safe and
accounted for.
Like the rest of you, this has been a difficult time for us. We are
in deep grief. We are angry. We are frightened. In a word, we are
struggling. Struggling with so many emotions. Struggling with our
need to help when there is not a lot we can do. Struggling to let
our children know what has happened and yet not make them afraid of
what may happen next.
However, we have both felt such boundless pride. When Americans come
together to support each other, there is no stronger power in the
world.
We have watched the rescue workers, the doctors, nurses, volunteers
who have worked so tirelessly and we are proud. The women who are
making little boots for the search dogs. The lines that stretch for
blocks at the blood banks all over this country. The resolve, compassion
and strength of our leaders not just here, but all over the world.
We feel such pride and such comfort in knowing that humanity, love,
compassion, faith, courage and tolerance flow in the hearts of people
around the world. More than evil, more than anger, more than bigotry
and hatred.
As we watched the service at The National Cathedral, I heard the words,"Love
can conquer hate." It is such a simple concept and yet so true.
It is what will save us. it is what makes us continue on in our lives.
Love is what truly feeds our souls.
We would like to send our deepest condolences to any of you who have
lost loved ones or friends in this horrific attack. We pray daily
that you find comfort and peace and that, for just one moment a day,
your pain is eased.
We send our blessings and deep gratitude to the countless volunteers
who are searching, healing and helping.
We pray that our leaders find the strength, courage and conviction
to make the difficult decisions that are ahead of them.
Finally, we pray for all people, all over the world during what may
be some dark days ahead.
Be well and safe,
The Boxleitner Family
